Treasure Trove Tuesday - This Week's Thrifting Finds

14 July
Time once again for Treasure Trove Tuesday!

Thrifting Finds

I found quite a bit over the weekend :o)

This set of 3 pictures. I had originally only picked out one but then the woman selling them said they were a set for the same price! They seem to be a little dirty, I hope I can clean them up a bit and then do some of the quotes on them.

A paint-by-number... ugly frame... I think it would be much nicer in a bright frame... one of the colors from the painting.

I picked up this Marilyn book for my daughter's birthday coming up this month. She loves Marilyn!

I could not resist this picture... just look at that chubby little face!! I started to say little girl but on second thought it may be a little boy since they used to put them in dresses back then. What do you think? Girl or boy?

I love little wooden toys like this. You pull on the ball and the bear plays the piano! It's marked Leningrad on the bottom.

I have a thing for old trims so I was excited when I found a whole bag of them!

A mid-century modern pencil holder (sorry for the blurry picture).

This is actually a little girl's t-shirt but I loved the horse. I think it would make a sweet pillow or stretched over a canvas it could be a wall hanging.

I also found several garden themed items.

Isn't this little box of plant fertilizer tablets cute? It's empty but the box is so happy and cheery looking!

A couple of hand rakes. I have a collection of old garden tools so I'm not sure I'll be able to part with these!

And a 1950's garden book.

Some more baby themed items that go along with the theme of last week's {Treasure Trove Tuesday}. The little bunny would be cute holding cotton swabs or balls and the baby booties are very sweet!

Leaf shaped coasters.

A cute tiny glass. It's just one glass but I wanted to show the graphics of both sides.

Beautiful tea cups. I love the aqua insides!

Another coaster set... more of a beach theme with this set.

And I love this pitcher! I don't really know anything about it but it's adorable!

Here's the marking on the bottom.

An awesome fondue pot! It doesn't look like it's ever been used.

I love things that are in their original packaging still but it just makes me wonder how things have survived that long with their packaging!!! I throw it away with new stuff I buy... maybe I should start keeping them together!

And last but not least... the teaser shot is from this apron! Isn't it cute?

It has a little hidden pocket on the inside too... for what???

Hope you guys have found some great treasures lately!

  1. The hidden apron pocket - a flask! Love the piece of folk art wood toy from Leningrad. Yes, I am one who puts stuff back into the box when I am through using it. My favorite is the old photo. I think it might be a boy.

  2. I just found your blog and I love how you revamp ugly paintings and their frames! (Sorry, I shouldn't call them ugly, but I never would have thought to do what you do with them!) Please work on that set of 3 in this post soon and tell us in detail what you did! I can't wait!

  5. Awesome finds this week! My first thought with the apron pocket was a flask...lol! Who knows! The horse t-shirt is so sweet. I can see it stretched in a large hoop and then embellished with some ribbons and flowers and stuff! :)

  6. Could the hidden pocket be for the classic tissue/hankie that women always kept in pockets? Those cups with blue insides look great inside glass canisters (containing flour & sugar) as scoops. Great stuff! thanks

    1. Thank you for your comment Mary! Several people thought the pocket was for a flask! lol! But it could also be for the hankie like you said! I love that idea for using the cups in glass canisters, how pretty!

  7. Are you sure that the MCM piece is to hold pencils? I thought it was too shallow and at the wrong angle. I have one, and I was thinking cotton balls, although we put change in it. Have you seen others? I love ours! Do you know the value of one?

  11. Hi Tania, I just wanted to pop in and say I read your feature on Diana's blog and love your topics. I'm adding your blog to my list of reads and hope to be able to connect with you, certainly on the vintage hunt front! Diana kindly featured my blog earlier in the year, and it's a fabulous way of meeting like-minded friends. Great DIY projects she featured of yours too, I might add. It's a pleasure making your acquaintance.
