Craft Studio Makeover Reveal - Part II

29 February
Yesterday I shared {Part I} of my craft studio makeover and I'm back today to show you the rest!

Craft Studio

I showed you the right side of the room where I set up a little table and comfy chair to work from and today I'm showing the rest.

Here is where we left off...

I brought in this long, skinny work bench from the garage where it wasn't being used except for to hold piles of junk! The top is something I found at a garage sale a few years ago for $5 and my dad whipped out the base for it from scrap lumber we found lying around my old house.

I think this will work really well because sometimes I like to stand up when I'm working on projects and other times I want to sit down (I can do that now with this tall work bench and the table I showed you yesterday).

I found an old curtain rod out in the garage that was the perfect length. I attached it and repurposed some old curtains I had to hide the storage underneath the bench.

The little storage shelves that I already had fit perfectly underneath the work bench! I mean perfectly too, there isn't an inch to spare!

I didn't show a picture of it but the front, right under the table top, was just ugly raw wood. I decoupaged some old book pages on it to cover the wood and then used a Sharpie to draw some freehand scallops :o)

On the right side of the bench is this vintage rack I found on Craigslist. I thought it would be perfect to hold books and magazines!

On the left side I stacked up two of these three-drawer plastic storage bins.

Now let's take a look at all the goodies on top of my work bench shall we?! My Eiffel Tower lamp is sitting atop an old piece of architectural salvage on the left and two small drawer pieces are on the right.

And I splurged and bought myself a new, small, flat screen TV! Part of the reason I didn't spend a whole lot of time in here was because I like to watch TV while I work on projects. Now I can!

It is sitting on this little wire shelf. The shelf was already on the wall and securely fastened so I just put an old board across the top and it's the perfect spot for my TV!

I found this old medical cabinet years ago at a garage sale. I love all the words on the drawers.

See this old plate?

This is on the back. Cool right? I turned it around so the words are showing for awhile :o)

This is an old screen that would have been used in a basement window. It will be my inspiration board!

A collection of old bottles and the cutest little fisherman figurine...

And there are some altered books on top of the plastic drawers. I like to look at them from the side like this, they are so packed full of fun things!

Over the window I created a shelf to display my Eiffel Tower collection.

I've had these brackets for probably 15 years and never used them! They are a combined curtain rod bracket and shelf bracket!

I also reconfigured the closet area of this room. Before it held the inventory for my Etsy shops, Little Vintage Cottage, and Little Boho Cottage. I moved all that to the guest bedroom and now this closet holds craft supplies displayed in pretty little boxes!!

I installed shelves in the left side of the closet.

There was then room for my cute little lingerie chest!

Hat boxes on the top shelf!

The brackets were already in the closet along the right side so I just added the shelves!

I haven't really decided what I want to do with my paints yet so they are still in the old 7-Up crate for now.

I have a soft spot for vintage children portraits, isn't this one cute?

I have a tall, skinny bookcase that I turned sideways (I'll show you why in just a minute). I put this old metal filing thing on the side and it holds old pictures.

A few books on top and a little brass mouse steadying them!

And finally, for the last part of the tour is my Etsy shop shipping area. I am planning to put another curtain around this table to hide the stuff underneath too.

On this shelf is my collection of vintage boxes. I love the graphics on these!

And here is that tall, skinny bookshelf... the one I turned sideways. It now holds all my Etsy shipping supplies... packing paper, printer paper, tape, business cards, envelopes, etc.

So that's it for my craft studio makeover!

I'm so happy with how it turned out... while there is still a lot of stuff in here it doesn't feel so overwhelming anymore. I got rid of a truck load of junk, two dressers, 2 book shelves, lots of wall hanging shelves and racks that I didn't need anymore once I purged.

And now I feel at peace in my craft studio :o)

  5. Loved seeing part 2 of your studio makeover. I have to admit turning a little green with envy when I saw your fabulous little lingerie chest. It is sooo charming! Actually, all your pretty boxes are pretty darn charming, too! You have a lovely place to do your crafting in, with all your supplies so close at hand. Thanks for sharing it.

  6. Everything looks so nice and organized. I can't say I'm super motivated to do mine yet...I guess I'm waiting on the barn to be finished and will organize stuff when I move it. :) My favorite spot is still your chair and table spot. It looks so inviting! But you have some fantastic storage pieces...I adore the vintage book rack. How wonderful to be able to display a few cherished books and magazines!

  7. Hi Tania,
Oh My Gosh...part II is just as amazing as part I! I love it all! It is all so organized now and I really like the idea of the little shelf above the window, what a great use of space! I love that you have a table that you can stand at too...I don't have that and would love to have somewhere to stand in my craft room (it usually ends up being the kitchen counter). I still haven't tackled my craft room, it seems to be the last place in our house to get done...but I think you have inspired me! It's all so beautiful! Hugs, Kimberley

    1. Thank you so much Kimberley! I have always had a table to stand at and I love it. It seems like I end up standing more often than sitting when I'm creating!
