January - A Time For Fresh Starts

Hello! How's your start to 2017 going? Mine is pretty good so far, we've had lots of snow lately, in fact Monday they called off work so I got an extra day off! Whoop!

You may remember back in April I celebrated Earth Day with 3 Simple Ways to Help Save the World! I started recycling at home, using reusable shopping bags, and started trying to use all natural products.

Since 2017 is a brand new year and January signals a time for fresh starts and resolutions I thought it would be a good time to revisit how I'm doing with my part to save the world and share a new offer from Grove Collaborative to help you kick off a fresh start to your New Year! If you haven't heard of Grove before, keep reading, I think you'll like what you see!

January - A Time For Fresh Starts

So, as far as my progress goes...

1. Recycling at home - I LOVE doing this! It feels like a challenge to see how much I can recycle and how little goes in the actual garbage... is that weird?!

It takes me about 2 weeks to fill up the recycle bin for papers, cardboard, cans, etc. (I still haven't filled a glass bin yet). And it takes me about the same amount of time to fill up the regular garbage. Before I would have 2 or 3 garbage bags A WEEK!

2. Using reusable shopping bags - I enjoy this too... but I have trouble remembering to take them into the store with me sometimes so there have been a few times when I have a cart full of groceries before I realize I've forgotten my bags... 😠 so I end up with some plastic. It just about kills me too! It drives me crazy that they sometimes put ONE THING in a bag!!!

I end up micro-managing and stressing out the cashier. This is how it goes:

Me: "Could you please put more in that bag?", "I think this will fit in that bag too", "Could you please not double the plastic bags?" ...as I'm taking things out of bags they've finished and putting them into others.

Cashier:

Needless to say, I'm still working on eliminating plastic bags from my life! Ha!

3. Using all natural products - This one has been easy but has taken a little more time to implement since I've had to finish off old products and introduce green products in their places. Grove Collaborative has made this so easy, they deliver right to your door!

I’ve been a member for almost a year, and I’ve been so impressed with the quality of their products, the fabulous customer service, and how easy the whole process is.

Once you sign up, Grove will ask you a few questions about your home and recommend products you’ll love from brands like Seventh Generation, Method, and Mrs. Meyer’s (don’t miss their house brand too!). They deliver everything you need right to your doorstep, on your schedule so you never run out.
Here’s how it works:
1. Sign up for Grove Collaborative here [Share the Love]. You will receive $10 to spend and I'll get $10 for referring you!
2. Answer 4 quick questions about your home that Grove Collaborative will then use to customize your first basket -- this takes under 30 seconds!
3. Once you’ve answered the questions, you can finalize your basket of products to suit your household needs by adding or removing items.
4. You made it! Click Finish & Pay to place your order.

  1. I looked at the Grove Collaborative. But forgot now what I read! Do you have to order so much each month? I use only Mrs. Meyers now and love it!

You did so good going green this year! I've been bad and left my bags at home too, it sucks because they sometimes try to put a new item in each bag. Normally I just take stuff out of the bags and carry them out if I have few enough and if not I'll consolidate them and be obnoxious and put the bags back quickly, haha :D I MUST start recycling this year, too.
