Sundays are for Staying in... Creating a Cozy Bed

How's the weather in your neck of the woods? It's been c-c-c-cold here, I think it was 7 degrees yesterday and we've had more snow than we've had in years! I have about a foot at my house!

Don't get me wrong, I love snow... being cold though? Not so much!! It really sucks (for me) then that I am cold most of the time. I am cold on the way to work because my truck isn't warmed up enough, I am cold all day at work because our building sucks (I run a space heater in my cubicle almost all day)!

So once I get off work all I want to do is go home and get warm, I put my warm, comfy sweats on as soon as I get home! And this time of year I don't want to go anywhere, I'd rather stay cozied up in my house and work on crafty type projects 😊 and that's exactly what I've been doing lately!

I'm working on a makeover of my bedroom, you'll get to see a little sneak peek of that here!

But for this post I'm sharing how I've created a warm, comfy, cozy and slightly messy bed... I want to stay in it all day! Sunday is usually my house chores day but I think I might hang out in my pajamas all day this Sunday instead! We all need a day like that sometimes right?

How to create a perfectly messy, comfy bed!

So, first things first, when creating a super comfy bed you have to have a super comfy mattress!

I have a memory foam mattress which is pretty dang comfy! If you don't have that you can always opt for a mattress topper to make yours more comfy! Check this bad boy out!!

Next up for a comfy bed is the sheets. Right now I have the softest flannel sheets on my bed. It's like crawling in the middle of a cloud!

Now it's time for the fun part... making it look pretty and cozy! (You can see a sneak peek of my new bedroom wall color... it's black!!)

I made my new duvet cover from a vintage chenille bedspread (I'll be sharing how I did that soon) and put my comforter inside.

I repainted my tufted headboard creamy white (more on that soon too!), the wooden screen is a yard sale find, the sheers behind were in a box of linens I got at an estate sale, the pom-pom garland is from the Christmas section at Hobby Lobby.

The white fur shams, the pink pillow and the fuzzy grey pillow are all from Marshall's, TJMaxx, or HomeGoods.

The 'Hello Beautiful' pillow is from Society 6, the long pillow in the middle is a king size bed pillow that I made a sham for out of drop cloth fabric.

Aaaannnnd I made this pillow on the side with the fringe from a sweater I got at a garage sale. One can never have too many pillows!! My mom might disagree!

(there's a peek at those black walls again 😉)

At the foot of the bed is a fuzzy white faux fur blanket and an off-white crochet beauty I found at a garage sale... I added the tassels!!

And of course you have to have a warm fuzzy rug next to the bed too!

Then of course if you're gonna stay in bed for awhile you gotta have something to do right?!

I don't have a TV in my bedroom, I'd rather look through one of my favorite home decor magazines instead, sip a latte and eat biscotti! #crumbsinbed

I got the cute mug at Rue 21.

I love this little guy... he's a sleepy puppy... or maybe he's a bunny... hmmm... anyway, I got him at the Farm Chicks show a couple of years ago. I spotted him at the very end of the day, everyone else had passed him by 😢 but I just couldn't.

And of course I love this little guy too and he loves our cozy, comfy, slightly messy bed!

What are you doing this Sunday??

Tania you certainly have been busy. The bedroom looks so warm and cozy. I am a huge fan of duvet covers. I don't even use a top sheet anymore. Love the cozy look with all of that texture. I can't wait to see the rest.

I love your little furry guy! I have a tiny, baby girl that could be a sister to him. Lovey Dovey, her brother and sister were born April 29,2016. Nothing makes a bed like furry babies!

  8. I enjoyed this post so much! I am loving your bed...definitely cozy. If I were single...that's exactly the look I would go for. The hubby doesn't coplain too much about the three decorative pillows I have on the bed but he would fuss about all the other stuff...lol! I LOVE it though! You're right about Sundays too...I love a lazy Sunday piddling around doing just what I want to do. I have been pretty lazy today...put my yoga mat and a blanket on the new porch deck and spent hours out there. SO peaceful. :) I know I will love it when it is complete and I have actual furniture to sit on. Have a great week!

  9. Darn those husbands for having actual opinions on home decor sometimes right?! There are definitely some advantages to being single :o) Thanks so much for stopping by Vicky, you'll be enjoying that deck a lot!

  10. It definitely looks cozy Tania. I love all the layers and textures, especially the chenille duvet cover. Love chenille! A cozy bed is a must here to get through the winter. It's either freezing cold and snowy or a little warmer, but damp and rainy. Either way it's cold and gets in the bones. I don't envy you having to get up at 4am. Lucky me that I get to sleep until 7.
