Treasure Trove Tuesday - This Week's Thrifting Finds

17 July
It's been a few weeks since I've shared any new treasures for TTT... I haven't been doing as much resale shopping... I have some bittersweet news to share. I have decided to close my booths at the antique mall along with one of my Etsy shops and concentrate all of my selling efforts on one Etsy shop... Little Boho Cottage.

I was just spreading myself a little too thin. I still work a full-time day job (for now 😉) so that takes up the majority of my time. On top of that, trying to keep two booths stocked (stressing out because I really needed to get some larger furniture pieces in there), work on improving this blog and posting here, working on projects at my house, working at the antique mall Saturday's to help offset some of my rent, trying to keep up with listing items in my Etsy shops (failing miserably at that)... there just isn't enough time in the day to do all I want... plus I still needed one day on the weekend to keep up on my yard and house work!

When I weighed everything out, the antique mall booths just didn't cut it anymore. The money I was making compared to the amount of time I was spending on it just don't equal out.

So, my last month at the antique mall will be August... I'll miss having my own little space in the brick and mortar world but maybe I'll be able to do it again sometime in the future. My other Etsy shop is still open but it will be closing soon. Everything in the Little Vintage Cottage shop is 50% off with coupon code 'COTTAGE50' if you are interested!

So, on with the TTT post! On the bright side, ALL of my finds (except those that I keep for myself of course) will be available for purchase at Little Boho Cottage!

Sorry to hear about the antique mall but like you said this is only a temp thing. Putting your efforts into too many things you could not put the energy into one thing and make it great. Now you can concentrate on the blog, one etsy shop and making them work so you can quit your full time job. Once that is done you can put more energy into getting back into a brick and mortar. Who knows by then it may even be a better place for you, maybe you can get a few partners and make a real cute little shop all your own. It all works out in the end and your a talented woman who can do it.

  2. Thank you Amanda and you're right... putting efforts into too many things means I cannot make one thing great :o) I would love to have my own little shop one day, that would be so fun!

I hear you on being spread to thin. I've been struggling with that myself! Trying to figure out what needs to give. So best wishes to you!
What fun finds. Can't wait to see your trivet rug...that's a great idea! The little painted babies are adorable and I love your Madonna collection! Hope you have a great week!

  6. I love the little dolls; I collect them too. You got them at a Very good price!!! They are usually called "frozen Charlotte"s (for some reason). I'm so sorry you're closing your antique booth. It is one of the best staged ones I've ever seen. But you are right, you can only do so much. I'm amazed how well you've been able to do everything on your plate. I always love your TTT's.

  7. I thought so too, thanks for stopping by Melissa!!

  8. I thought they might be called Frozen Charlottes but I wasn't sure because the one's I've seen don't have painted faces. I just love them :o)

I'm hoping to be able to fully concentrate on one Etsy shop and make it look just as good! I'm sure there'll be other opportunities in the future... it would be cool if I could have my own little shop!

  9. Oh Tania, I'm sorry you're closing your booth - I so loved seeing what you did with it. But I totally understand. I feel like I'm wearing myself too thin sometimes too. I can't wait to see how your ETSY store does once you concentrate everything there. Good luck!

  10. Wow, so many great finds! Love the string art. That really takes me back. The shell owl is adorable, and I have some of those types of trivets but they're round. I love them, and have been looking for more for a project. At the rate I'm going it'll take me years to find them. lol. I totally get the need to choose your priorities and concentrate your efforts on fewer things. I've been doing the same thing. It's all about balance right? The trick is getting the balance right. Work smarter, not harder. Now where have I heard that before? lol.

I don't think these are Frozen Charlottes because they have jointed arms, if I'm seeing them correctly. Frozen Charlottes, if they were perfect, probably went on to be painted and dressed, like yours. The imperfect ones were tossed out into the back of the factory where they ended up broken, discarded. They never made it to the painting stage. Some people are digging up Frozen Charlottes and Charles from around the old, closed factories and are selling them. That's what we have usually been seeing.

  12. I find most of the trivets at garage sales. I've been saving them for quite some time too... at least they don't take up much space! ha ha!

  14. Now that you say that, I think you're right. They are very similar to frozen Charlottes but not the real deal... still old though and still adorable!!!

Those tiny dolls are sweet. I would have picked them up, too, and the price you paid sounds great, according to someone who commented here! It was nice to hear from someone who knew something about them.

  16. I don't know how you did it all thus far! Love your Mary collection.
Does Etsy have a new policy where you can sell things that you didn't make? If so, I've got bunch of things to list, lol. Can wait to meet you in person soon! ;)

  17. Hi Jas! You can sell vintage (20 years or older), supplies, and handmade items... nothing new unless it is supplies.

I know, I'm excited to meet you in person too... it's coming up quickly!!
