Treasure Trove Tuesday - This Week's Thrifting Finds - Part I

31 July
My mom and I went to a great estate sale on Saturday. The person who owned the house had a secret room that even the family didn't know about and it was full of vintage and antiques... in fact, the whole house was full of vintage and antiques!

You pulled some book cases out of the wall and there was a whole other room that no one knew about!

So, that great estate sale combined with a couple of thrift shop visits means I have quite a bit to share for today's Treasure Trove Tuesday!

So much in fact, that I've decided to split it up into two posts so it's not so overwhelming... I was getting overwhelmed with all the picture editing for sure!

New thrifting finds, available in the Little Boho Cottage etsy shop soon!

I found another nice woven bowl! I love the bright pink and green and it is deeper than most too!

Price $2.19, Value $16 - $18.

I have a thing for plastic flowers... I think they are very charming.

I loved the pinks in this candle ring!

Price $2.19, Value $12 - $14.

I found a couple more rattan hot pads for my rug I'll be making soon!

Price FREE!

Zinnia's are my very favorite flower. I am planning to make a garden journal and I've been looking for vintage seed packets, what luck that I find my favorite flower!

Price FREE!

Three old plastic frames. They aren't too cute now but I'm planning to replace the matting for something fun and bohemian!

Price $2.57 for the set, Value $8 - $10 each after they are fixed up.

Some cute vintage fabric... I think those are apples and pears 🍐

Price $1.00, Value $10 - $12.

Vintage Melamine dishes... some small plates, cups, and cream and sugar sets. I like to put together sets of dishes with all these pieces. They are great for vintage trailers!

I love the pattern on these plates!

Price - about $6 for all this. I sell place settings for 4 for about $30 - $35.

A macrame belt.

Price $3.19, Value $12 - $14

This is a Rubbermaid Lazy Susan, don't you just love the mushrooms!?!

Price $1.19, Value $16 - $18.

Clutch bag.

Price $1.00, Value $18 - $20.

I love vintage cards and this one is so pretty... and round, I've never seen a round card before!

Price FREE!

A rope of bells.

Price $4.00, Value $22 - $24 (but I might keep it 😉)

Someone was a budding artist and there was a stack of practice watercolors he or she had done. I really liked this one.

I was practicing my photo staging skills for my shop with this one... going for a beachy boho feel.

Price $1.00, Value $16 - $18.

This picture is cool, it looks way better in person... looks like someplace in Italy.

Price $1.19, Value $16 - $18.

I found another sweet vintage doll, her arms are moveable but nothing else. She's marked "Made in Japan".

Price $2.50, Value $18 - $20.

There were quite a few old Gurley/Tavern candles at the estate sale but most of them were melted together 😞

These little ducklings were still in pretty good shape though!

There are only 4, I just wanted to show how cute they are from all angles!! 😁

I wrote a guide to vintage Gurley and Tavern candles here: Gurley and Tavern Candles Collectibles Guide. It's pretty interesting how they came about!

Price $2.50 for all 4, I'll be adding these to my own collection!

The minute I saw this little girl I was in love... her hair... I can't even... it's pretty much how I look in the mornings!!😂😂

She is a vintage Nancy Ann doll, I loved her tattered dress and her little gold bracelet.

I am planning to keep her... I'll fix her hair up as best I can and maybe she needs a tiny crown?!

She was $2.00 and you may have guessed... I am keeping her!

That's it, stay tuned for Part II!

  1. Wow, what a treasure trove! The Nancy Ann doll is so sweet...I rarely see those. Love the design on the round card, and love the Melamine dishes! Great vintage pattern! Love the boho basket too! I've been looking for those around here, but rarely see them either. Great haul! Oh, and that house! My goodness, a secret room...just like in the movies! I've never seen one in person. I bet that was a fascinating place!

  4. Love the melamine dishes - I rarely see them around here.

I liked the rope of bells too - I have a similar one that I made hanging in my bedroom at the lakehouse.

I just reading about the treasures you find. Although I love all of your items, the one I like best is the little painting.

  7. Isn't it funny how some things are more easily found in other parts of the country?! We don't get very much Iron stone around here for example!

  10. I know... it felt so mysterious... just like in the movies! I always wonder what would possess someone to do things like that... hide things away like that even from the family!!

    I love your haul!

The pink patterned fabric is wonderful! And, I would have loved to be the one to find that Zinnia seed packet, the round card {cute} and the little bisque doll dressed up so fancily. The melamine plates would be quite at home in a vintage trailer. I love the shape of the sugar and creamer. The bells would be fun to hang on the door to announce my sweethearts arrival from work.

The Nancy doll's hair: There are ways to fix up hair that isn't as pretty as you'd like. It involves fabric softener, although there may be others. You will have to do a search online for it. I like the idea of a crown, too!

    Best wishes, Fonda
