DIY Scrap Wood Pumpkins

05 September
You can literally make pumpkins out of almost anything.

Just paint it orange and slap a stem on it and you have a pumpkin! 😂

I love trying to come up with different uses for things and I especially love reusing what I have so when I was left with a few chunks of 4x4 post pieces after a recent project, I decided to reuse them in true trash-to-treasure style and I made them into cute chunky pumpkins!

Supplies Needed to Make Your Own:

After I built the pallet patio table and benches for my backyard, I was left with several scraps of 4x4 wood pieces.

And it just so happened that there was a tree branch that had fallen from the tree in my backyard that was perfect for stems!

Drill holes in each wood chunk for the stems. I used a 3/4" spade bit but you may not need that size depending on the thickness of the twigs you find.

Paint the wood chunks orange. I sprayed them with Krylon COVERMAXX Pumpkin Orange spray paint but regular craft or house paint would work as well.

At this point, you can further embellish them with stencils or leave them plain.

I wanted mine to be boho, so I used some stencils on two of them.

Add some leaves and twine. I found some leaves that would work in my supply of silk flowers but you could also use real leaves that have fallen from the trees.

TIP: thrift stores and dollar stores are great sources of cheap silk flowers!

To attach the leaves to the stems I wrapped the twine around the stems capturing the leaves underneath.

Put some hot glue down into the hole and stick the stem in!

I added some fun boho accents like pom-poms to mine!!

For two of the pumpkins, I just dry-brushed them with white paint.

And two of them are stenciled.

What do you think? Aren't they cute?!
