Trash to Treasure - Scrap Wood Boho Pumpkins

I have some cute little chunky faux pumpkins to share with you today!

After I built my pallet patio table and benches, I was left with a few chunks of 4x4 post pieces and to me, they looked like cute little chunky pumpkins!

Make these adorable boho pumpkins from 4x4 scraps!

So here is my pile of little wood chunks.

And it just so happened that there was a tree branch that had fallen from the tree in my backyard that was perfect for stems! I just cut a few chunks off with a hand saw.

The holes in the top of each wood chunk for the stems were made with a 3/4-Inch Spade Bit.

And I sprayed them with Krylon COVERMAXX Pumpkin Orange Spray Paint to make them look a little more pumpkin-ish!

Since these are boho pumpkins I added a little pattern to a couple of them with stencils.

I found some leaves that would work in my supply of silk flowers and some Jute Twine...

To attach the leaves to the stems I wrapped the twine around the stems capturing the leaves underneath.

Then I put some hot glue down into the hole and stuck the stem in!

And then I added some fun boho accents... like pom-poms!!

For two of the pumpkins, I just dry brushed them with white paint.

And two of them are stenciled.

What do you think? Aren't they cute?!

  5. They are so adorable! Great idea to use up some scrap pieces of wood. I have been saving scraps from all our projects over the past couple years. Hopefully one day I can make something with them!

  6. Thanks Vicky! I was thinking of you today... I don't know where you are at in Florida but I hope you'll be safe and sound from Hurricane Irma... it sounds like it might get a lot of Florida.

  7. I'm on the Gulf of Mexico side of Florida. If the storm follows the projected path (which it may or may not do), we shouldn't get too much damage...just lots of wind and rain. I'm just hoping and praying it turns and goes out into the Atlantic and spares everyone. Those poor islanders have been battered and devastated. I feel so sorry for them!

  8. It is very sad :( We are surrounded by fires. The air quality is so bad that people are wearing masks and just trying to stay inside. They've cancelled recesses for kids and all sporting events. They've declared a state of emergency but nothing near as bad as a hurricane I don't think!

  13. What a fun way to make the scrap wood pumpkins fit your personal style. I saved some 2 x 4 wood scraps from our fence construction and also made little pumpkins. I also found a fallen branch on our yard and did the same as you, cutting it down for stems. I still need to add the stems and seal the little pumpkins.
