Make Faux Mini Taxidermy from Toy Animals

28 February
Today I have a fun little craft project to share with you. It involves plastic toy animals and Plaster of Paris!

I started this project with some plastic children's toys. I found these on Amazon (link in the supply list) but really you could probably find some at garage sales or thrift shops if you are patient!

Toy animals

These toys are actually hollow and since they are plastic they are very easy to cut. You can use a regular hand saw and cut them right around the shoulder area.

Once they are cut you will use some Plaster of Paris to fill the cavities up and make them solid so they can be mounted to the wood plaques.

Fill the animal heads up all the way so that when they dry you have a smooth, solid surface.

Once they are dry, use the E6000 glue to attach the head to the wooden plaque.

Paint them the color of your choice. I chose plain white but I think they would be cute in colors too... pink for a girl's room... a bright, bold color, etc.

Next, use some tiny little flowers to decorate them! I used two different kinds of flowers and attached them with my hot glue gun.

I think the bear might be my favorite, it looks like he's smiling to me!

I think these would be super cute on a nursery gallery wall or in a playroom, what do you think?

What a fun idea Tania and I love the way you've added the flowers to soften it all up.
