Cottage Style Entry Table Makeover

14 June
Have you ever picked up a piece of furniture from the side of the road or a dumpster?

I love those kinds of freebie finds! I mean they are free!! So even if they turn out horribly you aren't out much... a little time and perhaps paint is all!

This little table is a dumpster freebie! It hadn't actually made it to the dumpster yet, it was just sitting outside the door at my daughter's employer... free for the taking!

It is missing the drawer (I had it turned around in this picture so the missing drawer is toward the wall to hide it) and it definitely needed a makeover, but it is a sturdy little table AND it was Made in the USA! 😄

My inspiration for this redo came from Lindsay over at Country Girl Home. Be sure to pop over and see her cute little table too!

Here you can see the spot where the drawer is missing.

I decided to use reclaimed fence boards to make the bottom shelf and a fake drawer front.

I didn't get any in-between pictures... my bad... but all I did was cut some 2" x 2" scraps for supports to fit in between the legs on all four sides (where you see the pink arrows) and attached them with wood screws.

Then I cut the fence boards to size and added them on top of my new supports, attaching them with wood screws.

Tada! Complete with a new fake drawer!

Then I sanded the whole thing, gave it a coat of primer, and then a couple of coats of paint that I mixed from some leftover cans from different projects (country white and peacock teal).

Then I distressed it a bit by just sanding it all around the edges.

I found the drawer pull in my stash to add to the fake drawer. I painted it with one of the Rustoleum metal-look spray paints.
