What is Craftsy? Craftsy is a worldwide craft community offering online classes. They also have:
Craftsy already has over 2 million members and counting! They have categories ranging from quilting, sewing, knitting, painting, photography, cooking, and more... so something for almost everyone!
The photography class I took with instructor Caro Sheridan was very good, I'm still going back and reviewing things!
You may be thinking why should I take a class online? Online education is not just for schools and universities anymore. I don't know about you but I'm busy and I prefer to do things online. I don't want to drive across town and sit in a classroom no matter how fun the instructor is.
I got my bachelor's degree entirely online, I took this Craftsy photography class online, and I'm taking a course called Build a Better Creative Business... online.
I like online courses because you can log on at your convenience, in your pajamas with no makeup if you please! Craftsy courses provide the same convenience with world class instructors in your home, whenever you want to learn!
Online format classes allow you to learn at your own pace, anytime. It also allows you to watch a section over and over again if you need to, so you can see exactly how the technique is carried out. I know I've watched things sometimes 4 and 5 times... you could not ask your instructor in an actual classroom setting to repeat him or herself that many times! Well I guess you could but then they might start to think you are a little "thick in the head" or you would definitely irritate classmates who got it the first time! :o)
So, this leads me to your little surprise! You can take free Craftsy classes to see how YOU like the Craftsy format! There are over 2,500 different classes to choose from... all FREE!

- a patterns marketplace where independent designers can sell their patterns
- a supplies shop with great deals on yarn, fabric, and class kits
- a projects section where members share pictures of their latest craft successes (I always think it's fun to see what people have made).

I'm interested to see how you like the Build a Better Creative Business class. There is nothing I would love more than to have my own business. I have toyed with the idea of selling handmade and vintage items on ETSY but just don't know. I feel like every handmade item I think of is already out there. I hope you are having a great week. I might have to check out one of these classes.
