Upcycled Fence Post Cap Coasters

16 May
When I was cleaning off my patio for a Spring Patio Refresh I came across two old fence post caps that I have had for several years.

I found them at my parent's house in their neighbor's burn pile and I thought they were cool and figured I could find a use for them.

An idea finally came to me... I decided to make some outdoor coasters with them!

This is how they looked before they became coasters. They are just old, wooden fence post caps!

I decided to paint them white again including the inside areas (except for the bottoms, you'll see why in a minute). They were already white but they were pretty chipped up and needed a little refresh!

Yes, those are old screws you see. The heads had broken off at some point and I could not easily get them out so I used a tactic my dad taught me... it's called Brute Force!! I just hammered those suckers over and into the wood!

I had some cork left over from another project so I just cut squares to fit down inside the cap.

I used E6000 glue to adhere the cork.

That's it! I have two super cute, super unique outdoor coasters for my patio!

I think it would be so fun if I could find some more fence post caps that were just slightly different so I could have a mismatched set of 4 or 5! That's something to add to my garage sale shopping list! 😃
