Oh My God Becky... this Thrifty Chicks monthly challenge comes so fast! (Please tell me you got the reference to the song by Sir Mix-a-Lot 😁)
Yes, it's time once again for our monthly Thrifty Chicks challenge where a group of my blogging friends and I each put our own spin on a themed challenge project.
This month's challenge was old wheels... like tricycle wheels, wheelbarrow wheels, wagon wheels, etc.
I wanted to arrange them a little differently than they came from the store so I separated all the elements from each stem.
I arranged them together into a small swag and just used one of the wire ends of the pinecone and wrapped it around the center to secure it.
I really want to be able to create a Christmas wreath with this wheel too so I made it so I can easily take it apart by using a push pin down into the plastic to hold the swag.

I found this cute polka dot burlap ribbon at the Dollar Store, it's wired too!
I used it to make a simple bow by first folding a length of it like this.
Then pinching it in the center...
Then I cut a small length of ribbon and glued it around the pinched part.
Wrap it around a pencil to create tendrils.
Then just tuck them in with a little dab of hot glue! Cute yah?!
I really wasn't sure how this would turn out but I'm so happy with it!

Junk Wheel Wreath
Here is the wheel I used. I got it from someone who was moving and this was in the throwaway pile. I think it's an old wheelbarrow wheel. The tire part is hard plastic and the center part is metal.
I picked up a few fall-themed floral stems at Michael's.
I wanted to arrange them a little differently than they came from the store so I separated all the elements from each stem.
I arranged them together into a small swag and just used one of the wire ends of the pinecone and wrapped it around the center to secure it.

I wanted to make a little tag out of a wood slice. I used some alphabet stamps and red Staz-on stamping ink.

I also used some of the wire stems that were clipped off the floral picks and made little tendrils to add to the swag.
Wrap it around a pencil to create tendrils.
Then just tuck them in with a little dab of hot glue! Cute yah?!
I wired the bow onto the swag and used jute twine to add the tag and a little more twine through the center of the wheel to create a hanger.
I really wasn't sure how this would turn out but I'm so happy with it!
