DIY Chalkboard Kitchen Cabinets with Contact Paper

Recently I shared my kitchen redo: Whole House Redo - The Kitchen where I removed a backsplash and put up open shelves on one wall and painted another wall black. Here is a reminder of that black wall... see the two small cupboards... over on the left side of the doorway?
So first I gave them a light sanding and two coats of some leftover white paint I had. I didn't paint the inset parts and you'll see why in a moment!
If you guessed chalkboard doors you were right!
But instead of chalkboard paint I used chalkboard contact paper!
This would be a perfect solution for ugly apartment cupboards!
Then I wrote "Pantry" on the top cupboard and just a list of what kind of stuff is inside the bottom cupboard... just for fun...
And because I'm a nerd... and I like to paint things with chalkboard paint and then I don't know what to write on them... :o/
(or in this case, chalkboard contact paper)
Let's see one more before and after!
Note: When you use the link above to purchase the contact paper from Amazon I make a small commission but it doesn't cost you a penny more!

Well I thought since they are so far away from the other cupboards in the kitchen that it would be okay to do something different with them! They are sitting over there all alone... looking all boring and forlorn!
So first I gave them a light sanding and two coats of some leftover white paint I had. I didn't paint the inset parts and you'll see why in a moment!

And so here is the burning question of the day... Can one have TOO MANY chalkboard surfaces in their house??? :o)

That looks awesome Tania! I had no idea they had chalkboard contact paper?! It looks great and I've been itching to try out the chalkboard paint, but maybe I'll give the contact paper a go instead. Thanks for sharing. :)
ReplyDeleteThat looks good. I've never heard of chalkboard contact paper.
ReplyDeleteIt looks fantastic. Perfect against the brick chimney. Like others mentioned, I didn't know there was chalkboard contac paper!
