Up-cycled Vintage Crate Turned Photo Prop

01 July
Today I'm sharing an old crate I made over into a cute photo prop for my Etsy shop, Something Special Bears.

You may remember this not-so-stunning crate from this Treasure Trove Tuesday post awhile back.

When I saw it I had a plan in my head to paint it and use it for a photo prop for my bears! Here is how it turned out.

I used some left-over white paint I had and gave it a couple of coats. I love the uneven, rough texture of the crate.

It still had an old label on the end which I just left and painted around.

Then I created a quick little banner with some twine and book pages.

I just wrapped the ends of the twine around the nails that were holding the crate together.

I added a piece of white poster board behind the crate so the grey of the background wouldn't show through, I was looking for a neutral, dreamy kind of look. Then I added an old table runner under the crate.

Here are some of my new photos.

Now I need to get busy and make some more bears!

You can see them all in my shop, Something Special Bears.

  1. Your photo prop turned out so good! It's amazing what a little paint and creativity does for a piece. Your bears are so adorable and so unique! Have a great hump day! I've been so busy packing up all my stuff and getting rid of old furniture in preparation for the reno! We start Friday...I can't wait!

  2. I love it! It really shows the bears off well! And you can probably use it for other photo sessions, too.
