Trash to Treasure - Thrift Shop Flips
24 February
If you didn't already hear my big news I have been approved for a space at one of my local antique malls and I move in THIS Saturday, February 28th!! So, I've been scrambling around trying to get some things made as well as round up some display shelves! I'm getting there! I have one little bookcase and I'm going to use an old ladder and some pickets to create another bookcase until I find something else.
I thought you might like to see what I've been working on for my new booth :o)
First is this vintage oil painting. I thought it was really a beautifully done painting but the ugly, gouged up frame was really bringing it down.
Before...
I sanded the nicks out of the frame and gave it a coat of white paint. Doesn't it look pretty now!? I think it would look beautiful in a beach cottage!
After...
I also picked up this vintage crewel embroidery picture at the same time. Again... the frame... it's bringing me down man!
Before...
But look at it now! I chose an avocado green for the frame to bring out the green in the picture. Oh, you should see this thing in person... someone did a beautiful job... so much intricate work and layers... I would have pulled my hair out after about the 2nd stitch!!
After...
These little shelves look like they were handmade. This was after I sanded them down.
Before...
I just gave them a coat of light grey paint.
After...
This is a vintage stadium chair. It would be good for picnics too... but it just didn't look too appealing with the old yellow and black vinyl. I had already taken the vinyl off the back rest. Oops!
Before...
I used some oil cloth I had and some pom-pom trims. Isn't it cute now?
After...
I didn't get before pictures of the next two items... but this one was just an old spool for wire or cable or something. I used a few yard sticks and cut them to fit the center portion.
After...
And what once was just an old bicycle wheel is now a cute spring wreath!
After...
What do you think?
I'm so excited for Saturday and I can't wait to share my new space once I get all moved in.
