Half Bath Redo - Before Pictures
21 May
Well, I'm almost done with my main bathroom redo, I just have the shower curtain left to make... I'm crossing my fingers I'll be able to get to that this weekend :o) In the meantime... since all the hard work of that redo is done... I'm dreaming of my next room redo... the half bath!
So... I thought I'd share the lovely before pictures. It may take me a little while to get to this project but soon!
Here is the picture I took on the walk through when I bought the house.
It is a walk-through half bathroom. The doorway that you are seeing here goes into my bedroom and the picture was taken from the doorway that leads into the laundry room and then on into either the kitchen or living room.
Here's what it looks like now.
I finished my bedroom redo awhile back and I'm ready for my bathroom to look nice too. If you missed my boho master bedroom redo you can see that here: Master Bedroom Redo - The Big Reveal.
This vanity is ridiculously low and I hate it so it is going bye-bye! The cubby hole where I've been keeping my laundry hamper is kind of nice but I don't really understand it... maybe it was supposed to be for a chair and place to put on makeup? I don't know but that's not how I put on my makeup so it's not needed.
It is nice to have all the counter space but i don't really need it.
The sink needs to be replaced. it has missing enamel around the drain hole, a missing drain pop-up thingy, and a weird spot that cleans off with scrubbing but mysteriously reappears and looks like rust running down the sink! And the faucet is hideous :o(
I'm planning on repurposing this vintage dresser into a vanity, I'm excited about that, I hope it works!
Right now, as you can see, my TV is on it so I'll have to find something else for that.
This corner cabinet is also going bye-bye. I'm planning on some sort of open shelving with pretty hand towels and wash clothes stacked on it (no large towels because there isn't a shower or bathtub in this bathroom), glass apothecary jars to display things, and other pretties!
You can see that whoever put the toilet in didn't do a very good job painting behind it... the bathroom must have been pink at some point.
This ugly light bar will either get re-created or totally replaced.
Here's the view from the bedroom doorway, looking in the direction of the laundry room. You can see there is a nice big window in here which I love!
I took the other door (into the bedroom) off but this one will stay. It needs work though because it won't close all the way.
There are issues with the plaster on the walls near the floor. I kind of think maybe there was a flood in this house because the other bathroom had this issue too and it's only down on the bottom of the wall.
And someone must have locked a dog in here because the molding next to the door is all scratched up. I may try to fill it with wood putty and smooth it out but if that doesn't work I'll have to replace this molding.
I'd like to incorporate this old window into the room somehow.
This bathroom also has one of those old wall heaters like the other bathroom. I made a magazine rack out of the other one because it was right next to the toilet but this one is not so I'm not sure what I'll do... maybe just cover the hole up and add a plug in with the heater wiring or maybe I'll figure something else out!
So there you have it! I'm excited to get started!

Can't wait to see what you do with this!!! Don't you LOVE a re do???
ReplyDeleteWhat am I working on???? I am planning to re wallpaper our dining room by fall. We also need to buy a bunk bed - twin top an double bottom - for our guest room to accommodate our 3 year old quadruplet grandchildren when they come to visit - which is every Wednesday!
Can't wait to see what you do with it! You have some great plans so far...love the dresser for a vanity! I know it will be awesome after you work your magic on it! Have a great weekend...:) I have a 4-day weekend so life is great!
ReplyDeleteThe paint job behind the toilet looks like that because the wall was painted and then sometime afterwards the toilet was replaced. I know because we had the same issue at the lake house and I still haven't fixed the painting. LOL.
ReplyDeleteCan you pull the heater out, box in the area and store rolls of toilet paper in there?
You are like the Energizer Bunny with all these projects. I love how you accessorized the bath with a perky puppy. Good luck with all the plans. I am most excited about the plans for the new/old vanity!
