Vintage Bar Stool Makeover
09 May
If you've been reading along lately then you know that I have been working on all kinds of stool makeovers.
So far I have 7 done and ready to take down to my space at the antique mall.
Today I'm sharing the latest of those makeovers, this cute little vintage bar stool!
I found it at a garage sale for $3.
Here is what it looked like before.
How do you like that ugly red carpet top?! ;o)
Once I took off the old cover I discovered that the foam underneath was badly stained and just gross so I used some nice, new, white foam and this vintage pillowcase from my fabric stash to make it a new seat.
I love these roses!
Then it got a flirty little skirt!
Next I had to figure out what to do about the feet... why they are gold when the rest is chrome I have no idea... but it didn't work for me.
So I cleaned them up and gave them a coat of hot pink paint for the "dipped" look!
The stool looked kind of out of proportion before it's makeover, the seat was so small and the rest so long and skinny.
I think the skirt and the dipped legs helps break it up a little.
What do you think?

Looks sew cute! (Ha - pun intended!) How much actual sewing is involved in this? I don't own a sewing machine!
ReplyDeleteThanks Melissa! The only sewing I did was to join a couple of strips from the pillowcase together to make one long strip and then folded it in half lengthwise to create the ruffle and one last gathering stitch. Then I stapled it to the side of the stool. You could actually get away with no sewing at all if you just fold it over, run a gathering stitch along the unfinished edge by hand and staple it on!

Cute as a bugs ear!! The skirt definitely helps make it look more in proportion.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh I love it! I passed up a stool at Goodwill today, now I wish I had bought it! xo Kathleen Charm Bracelet Diva {At Home}
ReplyDeleteHi Tania! I meant to comment yesterday. I love the fabric on the stool...so pretty! Love the skirt as well. Did you glue that on?

Thank you Florence :o) The skirt is stapled to the wood.
