7 Days of Thrift Shop Flips - Day One - Upcycled Welcome Sign
13 August
Welcome to day one of "7 Days of Thrift Shop Flips"! This will be the third year that I've done 7 days of thrift shop flips in honor of National Thrift Shop Day! August 17th is the day!
I love thrift stores! There are so many great things you can find at them, from brand new, name brand home decor and clothes for a fraction of the price to vintage (or just used) items that you can transform into fun new things for your home.
So let's get started!
I am transforming this vintage picture frame and oval wooden plaque for day one's project!
Hmmm, what could these two items come together to be?
I started by painting the frame black.
And the little plaque was painted gray and then I transferred my word of choice onto it with carbon transfer paper.
And painted the word with black.
Oh! It looks like it may become a welcome plaque!!
Next, I added some faux succulents and flowers to the black frame with hot glue.
That looks pretty, don't you think? See that little cup hook in between the pink ribbons? And did you notice the little eye hook on the top of the gray plaque?
Tada!! It is a welcome sign!
I distressed the grey welcome plaque a little bit and the two have become one!
This reminds me of the Upcycled Picture Frame Wreath I made for one of our Thrifty Chicks challenges!
So, since I already have the square frame wreath for my front door, this little cutie is for the motorhome! 😊
It's the perfect addition I think!
I hope you liked this first project! It not only was the perfect project for day one but it also gets two more things out of my garage!
