7 Days of Thrift Shop Flips - Day Two - Upcycled Picture Stands
14 August
Time for day two of "7 Days of Thrift Shop Flips" in honor of National Thrift Shop Day on August 17th.
I think this may be one of the easiest projects I have ever done. It almost doesn't warrant an entire blog post!
Here are my candidates for today's project... two orphaned sugar pot lids and some wire.
My mom and I had a garage sale last year after I closed up my spaces at the antique mall. We had a lot of pretty little creamers and sugars on a shelf in the driveway. Unfortunately, a big gust of wind came along and blew that whole shelf over and lots of stuff broke. These lids were left without bottoms 😪
But I have seen a lot of sugar or teapot lids at the thrift store too... sometimes they are completely missing their other half and sometimes the other half is broken or badly cracked.
I saved these two pretty little lids from the massacre at the yard sale thinking I could do something with them.
I had some jewelry wire so I cut a length and bent one into a heart shape and the other into a circle shape and then wrapped them around the handles on the lids.
Then I found a complimentary color of vintage seam binding ribbon in my stash and tied that around the lids to hide the wire.
Each one then got a little embellishing. I mean this project was so easy I had to give it a little extra oomph!
The pink floral lid got some glittery feather embellishments. Aren't they pretty?!
And the other lid got some bird's eggs and a bird's nest stamped tag.
They look pretty even without pictures!
But they look even better with pictures!
I don't know who the baby in the picture is but isn't he adorable?!
Which one is your favorite? I'm torn, I love them both!
You could make a bunch of these and use them for place setting markers too!
