It's Day 3 and we are sharing DIY Christmas Countdown Calendar Ideas!

Advent calendars are a fun way for kids to count down the days until Christmas but they are also fun for older kids-at-heart! I have made them for my daughter for a couple of years and one for one of her roommates once too!

It doesn't have to be overly fancy either, I'm going to show you how to make one with plain brown paper bags!

Supplies Needed

Gather up some fun, inexpensive gifts to fill the bags based on the age of the person.

Mine is for a young adult girl so I chose things like a bath bomb, socks, body spray, fancy chocolates, and hot cocoa add-ins!

Trim about 3 or 4 inches off the top of the bag with decorative scissors.

I chose a simple scallop design.

Next, you'll stencil the numbers (1 through 24) on the bags. You could just write the numbers on the bags if you don't have stencils.

Once the numbers are stenciled on the bags then you can embellish the top edges of the bags with different trims and embellishments.

Put some colored crinkle paper inside each bag

Then just fill them with the goodies, fold the top edge of the bag down and you have a super cute and easy DIY advent calendar!

Each day starting on November 1st your loved one (young or old(er)) will open the bag for the day!

Display them in a pretty basket or bucket! Obviously, you will have 24 bags so you'll need a larger basket or bucket 😁
