Upcycled Clock Shelf - 7 Days of Thrift Shop Flips - Day Five
21 August
Today's project is something that I didn't get at a thrift store, someone actually gave it to me. But again, it's something that I see often at thrift stores so it's easy to recreate I think!
The first thing I needed to do was to remove the clock parts.
They were just held on with a few screws which made it easy!
Some of the clock parts are kind of cool looking so I'll keep them for a possible future project.
Here is my gutted clock body.
I used a little scrap of thin plywood to make a shelf.
I spray painted the whole thing black.
I wanted to put a design inside the clock so I made a pattern with paper.
I used that to cut some cute wrapping paper I have and used Mod Podge to adhere it to the inside of my clock.
I put the glass back into the little door.
You can see some wrinkles in the paper but those will smooth out as it dries. Like I said before, I am so behind on projects and I just finished this before writing this post!!😬
For now, it's holding this sweet little doll with the messed up hair... she looks like me in the morning! 😂
Upcycled Clock Shelf - 7 Days of Thrift Shop Flips - Day Five
I've actually been thinking of making a shelf from a clock like this for a while so I immediately knew what I wanted to do with it when it was given to me!
Here is what it looked like when I got my hands on it... dirt and all! 😜

I gave it a good cleaning and sanding and then decided to remove the front piece on the top but I left the little door with the window on the bottom.

I used that to cut some cute wrapping paper I have and used Mod Podge to adhere it to the inside of my clock.
Then I sanded the whole thing heavily for a nice distressed look.
My new clock shelf is now hanging in my bedroom!
I put the glass back into the little door.

PIN ME!
P.S. Tomorrow's project is a surprise... a complete surprise to me too because I have no idea what I'll be making!! No sneak peek sorry!
