Adding Art to Your Home Gym

22 February

I think every room in your house should be someplace you enjoy being, or at least look nice even if you don't want to be in there for very long (the laundry room for example 😂) Even the closets should be nice to look in. It's your home, you should enjoy it and make it a place you love.

Sooo, that being said, today I wanted to share some details that make my new home gym a place that I like to be.

... ok... that's a lie... I don't really like being in there working out but when I do at least it's peaceful and nice while I am in there!

I added some art to my gym that fits in with the theme... of a gym!

I made a couple of simple DIY pieces and added a couple of inexpensive purchased things too.

First I'll share how I made the DIY Squats sign.

I love this sign because you have to have a sense of humor in your home decor sometimes!

It was really simple to make. First I found a black and white clip art image of a peach that I liked, then I used Word to create a little sign. If you don't have Word, Canva will work too and it's free!

I printed it out on regular computer paper. Then I used decorating chalks and a couple of cotton swabs to color in the peach.

You could use regular colored chalk too. I started by using my finger and rubbing it in the color of chalk I wanted and then onto the paper. I just kept doing this until the whole peach and leaves were colored in.

Then I used the cotton swabs to add more color around the edges and along the lines to create shadows.

For the frame I used a clip frame that I already had. A clip frame is just a board, a piece of glass, and clips that hold the two together. You add your art sandwiched between the board and glass.

This is where I ran into a bit of a problem though. My peach art isn't as big as the frame and the frame doesn't come with a mat so you would see the board around the edges of the art. I needed to figure out something to use for a mat.

I got creative and used the cardboard piece from the clip frame... the one with the baby above! I sprayed the backside of it very lightly with a couple of coats of chalkboard spray paint!

It worked perfectly!

It's on the top shelf in my gym. It makes me smile every time I go in there and do an extra few squats! 😉

I found this sign at Big Lots and the reed diffuser was a donation from my daughter, it smells so nice!

The peace candle is from TJMaxx and the quail is thrifted!

I also created another humorous little sign with my printer and some black scrapbook paper.

And I had this sign in my craft studio for awhile.

The GYM letters on the wall are from Hobby Lobby, they were under $4.00 each and I painted them white and hung them on the wall with command hooks.

I'll be sharing a few more things from my new gym soon. I hope you enjoyed this post!
