I have a fun little project to share today, it's something that is quick and easy and involves recycled materials!
I used the same recycled item that I used in the DIY Valentine Toilet Paper Tube Gnomes and mentioned that I felt like we should be cherishing these toilet paper tubes a little more since TP was such a hot commodity there for a while!!
There are so many fun things you can make with these innocent little cardboard tubes... so how about some little treat pockets?!
DIY Valentine Treat Pockets
I made another video to share how easy these are to make! They are fun too because you can be creative with the items you use to embellish the tube... I used coffee stir sticks on some, and recycled packaging for others. So get creative and you'll find lots of items around you that will work!!

These are the things I used!
And the basics... scissors, baker's twine, and craft sticks!

Use the bone folder/scoring tool (or a butter knife) to get a nice creased edge.
Cut about 1/2" on each side along the crease.
Use a straight edge and use the bone folder/scoring tool (or butter knife) to score the tube for easy folding.
Fold up the scored edge.
Then cut off the remaining edge.
Run a bead of glue along the remaining flap.
And fold up to form the pocket. If you are using white craft glue, you will need to clamp and allow this to dry).
Use some decorative edge scissors along the top of the pocket.
Choose some paper for the front. I recycled the packaging from the doilies for one of mine because it had cute little hearts on it!
Cut a strip to go across the front and glue it in place (I added more detail to a couple with stamps and embossing ink and powder, here is a great starter set for embossing!)
Cut some pieces of a paper doily for inserts.
Now that you have the pocket bases completed, embellish the fronts as you wish with stickers, etc.
And then add more embellishing with sticks, stickers, and baker's twine. The two on the left use painted skinny sticks, the two on the right use recycled coffee stir sticks!
Finally, add candy treats!!! TIP: flatter candies such as M&Ms, Skittles, Laffy Taffy, Airheads, etc. will work best since they aren't as bulky and will fit nicely in the pocket.
These would be easy for kids to make for their friends too but I know my adult friends will love them just as much! 😊
