Repurposed Ceramic Hand Figurine

12 August

It's day two in the 7 Days of Thrift Shop Flips series!

And can you believe it? I forgot to take a before picture of my project 😖 I am so bad at that, I get the vision going in my head and forget about pictures!

For today's project, I'm using a ceramic hand figurine that I got for $2.99 and turning it into a cool accent light!

I loved the details on this ceramic hand. It has ruffles around the wrist and pretty roses on the sleeve and on one side.

It was white when I found it, but like I said, I forgot to take a picture and I can't find anything like it online.

I started the makeover by spray painting it black. Then I found a square wood plaque in my wood stash. You can see that I got this for .25 cents. I've had it for years but I think it came from a yard sale.

I used Soft Black craft paint and watered it down to create a DIY stain.

Once dry, I flipped it over and added a sawtooth picture hanger to the back and then glued the hand to the plaque using E-6000 glue and let it dry overnight.

I used one of these clip-in lights that are for Christmas village houses and removed the clip so it was just like a miniature pendant light.

I also had a tiny clip-on lampshade that I found at the thrift store for just $1. I opened up the wire and put it around the cord, then crimped it back down with pliers so the cord won't come out.

And I now have a very unique little pendant accent light!

This is not where I'm planning to put it permanently so I haven't done anything to hide the cord yet but when I figure out where I want it, I'll cover the cord with a cord hider.

Be sure to come back tomorrow to see the next project. I'm using these supplies!
