I'm about to switch to Christmas crafts but I just finished up something that I think is pretty cute so I want to share.
I used Mod-Podge and lined the box with the papers, both inside and out.
On top, I used a piece of a recycled cardboard tube from a roll of paper that I used up.
I had some chipboard circus ephemera so I used a few pieces to embellish the box a little bit.
I thought he needed a sidekick so I found this lone salt shaker in my stash (I have jars full of little salt and pepper shakers and figurines that I pick up. But I felt like I was hoarding them so I'm going to use them!)
I made a collar for him with a piece of ribbon. I ran a gathering stitch down the center and gathered it up around his neck.
I found some scrapbook paper recently that had these tiny little bunting flags on it and they are already sewn together! I used a little bit at the top.
This one is made with another cardboard box, an empty packing tape roll, and some cardboard parts.
I glittered this clown with clear glitter.
I covered the raw edge on the bottom of the tape roll with seam binding tape and rick-rack trim.
The sides and backs are finished too.
Remember the Halloween Altered Art Doll that I made? She was nestled inside a little display box that was made from part of a shipping container.
Well, I had several of those boxes, so I decided to make a couple more assemblages with them and this time I went with a circus theme! 🎪🤡
Altered Art Circus Assemblages
I'm not going to put a list of supplies because it really depends on the kinds of supplies that you have.
I used a couple of the shipping container boxes (these were used inside a large box to take up space) and some vintage clown figurines I had.
I know a lot of people are freaked out by clowns but I think these two are so cute!
I also went through my scrapbook papers and pulled out anything that reminded me of a circus.
For the first assemblage, I used striped paper and one with colorful balloons. I added some polka-dot paper too.
Then I set to work creating a little circus scene inside the box.
I searched through my stash for something for this little clown to hold and found these plastic balloons. I think they were a cake decorating supply.
I used a bead to help adhere them to his hand.
Don't ask me why I have these, I almost threw them away but I'm glad I didn't!
At the bottom, I made little feet with some miniature wooden candle cups that I painted pink.
I glittered the clown's hat, tie, and shoes with chunky, old-school glitter.
For the second box, I used basically the same process.
These are the papers I chose for this one.
for this one, used a ceramic elephant figurine. I painted a new eye on him and gave him a bow, and a party hat.
These ticket stubs were blank so I used my rubber stamps to stamp "Admit One" all around it.
And here they are, all finished!
These are both currently available in my Etsy shop: LVC Handmade
