If you've been reading the LVC blog for very long, then you probably know that I've been trying to work my way through some of my stash of things waiting to be repurposed or upcycled before I buy anymore.
I did mess up and buy something at the thrift store the other day. I just couldn't resist it and I can't wait to make the project that's in my head come to life!
But I am still working on my stash. I ran across some vintage baby shoes that I've had for a long time and decided to repurpose them into Christmas ornaments.
Repurposed Baby Shoe Ornaments
These were really easy to make and I think they turned out pretty sweet 😊
This is what they looked like before I started.
I painted one of the shoes with black craft paint. Then I popped the insole out. These are old shoes so they weren't even glued in anymore.
I removed the insole because I wanted to cover it with vintage sheet music. I just used Mod Podge for that.
Then I glued it back into the shoe.
I used a Crop-A-Dile tool to punch a hole in the back so I could add a hanger.
Then I added some vintage tinsel garland around the inside edge of the shoe.
I used two vintage jingle bells along with some vintage ribbon to make the hanger.
I didn't like the white buckle so I used some gold rub n buff on it and the little button on the toe of the shoe.
I stuffed the toe with paper towels, added a little vintage bottle brush tree inside the shoe, and stamped a little JOY tag that I layered over a piece of vintage lace.
And to finish it off, I added some vintage tatted lace around the outside.
I made a red one with the other shoe.
I think these would be sweet for baby's first Christmas ornaments. You could write it on the bottom with the date and baby's name 😃
I hope you enjoyed this quick and easy project. If you did, I'd love it if you would share it!
