Master Bedroom Redo - Inexpensive Window Coverings

07 January
I'm still working away on my master bedroom redo. It's amazing how long it takes to do a room redo from top to bottom... on a budget... and mostly by myself! But I'm taking my time and getting it just how I want. Today I want to share my new inexpensive window coverings and my new bedspread!

Supplies Needed

It just kills me how much curtain rods and curtains can cost! I went the inexpensive route but I still got the look I was after and for under $100.00 for 2 pretty large windows!

I started with just some inexpensive cylinder curtain rods from Walmart for just $13.97 each.

And some simple sheer curtains. I only used one panel per window because they aren't used for privacy, just decoration!

You can get a PAIR of them from Amazon for as little as $6.00!

Then I added plain white roller shades.

Again, Amazon has them for $8.49 for the size I needed which was 55" wide. So they will be even cheaper if your windows are smaller!

My mom helped me with the curtains and blinds and after they were installed I got to do the fun part to personalize them for my room!

I used Tuula's tutorial over at The Thrifty Rebel to cover my new blinds with fabric!

When you pick out your fabric pay attention to the direction and width of the fabric in comparison to your windows. Fabric is usually only 45" wide and my windows are 55" wide. I didn't want to piece the fabric together so I had to turn it the other direction. I had my heart set on a chevron pattern but the chevrons were running the wrong direction so that wouldn't work. Then I wanted a wood grain pattern but that was the same issue. I'm really in love with my polka dots though :o)
