Trash to Treasure Repurposed Dining Chair

So, do you remember when I used to co-host the Craft Frenzy Friday link party? It was a weekly link party here on the blog where other bloggers could link up all their fun recent projects and you could browse around and check them out.

Well, when I did my reader survey I discovered that almost every single person who took the time to do the survey for me didn't really like that post! I guess you like seeing MY projects and not other peoples! That's awesome and so flattering I must say!

Well... long story short, that party ended at the decision of the main host and I was totally fine with that... as you are!

So instead, I have joined up with 6 other blogging friends of mine and we will be doing a monthly themed project together! It will happen the second Wednesday of each month, this month's theme is chairs. We could make over a whole chair or use just parts and pieces.

I'll post my chair project here and then at the end, there will be links to the other projects! That will be fun right? Only 6 other projects to enjoy instead of hundreds!

What to do with a single, ugly dining chair!

Here we all are... the Thrifty Chicks!! 😄

I found my chair at a storage unit sale last year for just $2.00. It's been sitting in my garage since then... just waiting for inspiration to hit!

I removed that nasty fabric covered seat and sanded the whole thing down first.

And then I gave it a coat of black spray paint. This is my base coat so it's just cheap spray paint.

I used the old particle board seat base to cut a new, nicer wood seat.

And then I used a planter to trace a circle onto the seat base. Why you ask? You'll see!

I drilled a hole large enough to get my jigsaw blade in so I could cut out the circle.

Have you figured out what I'm making yet??

Then I used Driftwood Colored Stain on it.

Oh!! Now, do you see my plan?!

I spray painted over the black with off-white and then distressed it a bit.

I found a pretty teal colored pot and some plants on the clearance racks at Lowe's.

Tada! The perfect repurpose of an ugly, old dining chair!

Since the chair didn't have a whole lot going on in the way of scrolls or turned wood pieces I painted "Sunshine Garden" on the back to add a little interest.

The little doll is something my mom made for me eons ago! She's been outside so she's a little rough around the edges! I gave her some new bows on her shoes and in her hair and reattached her hand that had fallen off and now she's hanging from the chair.

This is sitting on my front porch now. I'm looking forward to seeing the flowers fill in.

Now, you'll be able to check out the other ladies' projects, I haven't even seen them past the before shots so I'm looking forward to it too!
