Little Vintage Cottage Craft Studio Makeover
14 January
Now that the holidays are over and the New Year is upon us, I have a renewed sense of energy and motivation. Does that happen to you?
So since I have all this energy and motivation, I decided it was time for a craft studio refresh and makeover. My studio had gotten really messy, it seems to become a dumping ground sometimes and other things had gotten thrown in there that didn't belong.
I was able to get rid of a couple of large bags of junk with this makeover and rearranged and organized the room. I found a great little mid-century modern looking bookcase thing at Target and I can't wait to show you how I used it to help me get a little more organized!
I kept two of the suitcases and put them on the bottom shelf (who am I kidding... I kept them all!) One has silk flowers, the other holds paper ephemera. I bought four fabric storage bins in pink from Walmart and put all my fabric in them. Now all I need to do is pull out a bin to get to my fabric!
To the right when you come into the room, I hung up a gallery wall. All of this stuff was just lying around so I decided to hang it all up! Some are things I've made, some is vintage, and some are things I've bought to use for a project.
These are some of the little artist bears I've made.
Here is another 😊 sitting on the Upcycled Tennis Racket Press Shelf I made.
I rearranged the decor and supplies on this bookshelf.
My tomato pincushion and thimble collections are displayed in jars on the bottom shelf next to my sewing machine.
A little collection of doll parts, some people find them creepy, I think they are sweet!
Glitter is displayed in a silver container.
I like to have some of the prettier supplies I have out on display.
Just to the left of the new Target bookcase is a long, skinny workbench. I found the top at a garage sale for just $5 years ago and my dad made the workbench base for it.
I added vintage book pages to the front board of the base and drew scallops and little dots.
The Thrift Shop Flip - Oversized Bulletin Board that I made is now hanging over that bench. I used a clip-light and attached it to the top so I can have some good task lighting while I work.
I finally hung up the tiered basket that I've had hanging around for years, and there is an open basket... oh my goodness, I must fill that up! 😂
I've had this little vintage medicine cabinet for years. I added the glass knobs to dress it up a little.
Here are some of my things displayed on top.
I got this angel about 20 years ago at an antique show. She used to be a window display in a floral shop.
I hung up some vintage honeycomb decorations in the corner.
There is lots of storage underneath my workbench too! I used four inexpensive cubby shelves and a vintage shoe bag/box to store more supplies.
I bought this bookcase from a bookstore that was going out of business, it's very skinny and so handy for lots of storage.
This is half of an old steamer travel trunk.
My Eiffel Tower collection is in the window.
I have these curtains in the closet doorway, there is lots of storage inside!
An old display holds my books and magazines.
Here is inside the closet.
I bundled up the Vintage Hankie Curtain I made, tied a rubber band around it, and hung it up in the corner. I saw this once at a craft show, they had used them on the corners of their booth and I thought it was so cute! I think they used old sheets!
Back over by the door that we came in, there is a little chair, a large skinny cabinet my ex-father-in-law made for me and the subway art I made hanging on the front.
This is on top of that cabinet.
I put my work table diagonal in front of the closet.
This little pig dish is ready to hold supplies or in-progress pieces.
I hope you enjoyed the tour! I was so pleased with how it turned out that I just sat in there for a couple of hours listening to music and looking around!!

Little Vintage Cottage Craft Studio Makeover
It took about a week to get this done, I didn't want to make a mess in the rest of the house by taking everything out so I just worked in little sections in the room, so it took longer.
This chalkboard arrow is hanging on the door 😁
So welcome, let me give you a little tour!
This is the furniture piece I found at Target. Now I have a dedicated spot for my dollhouse too!
I used to have all my fabric stored in suitcases that were stacked up but every time I needed fabric I had to unstack all the suitcases (because of course what I needed is always in the bottom suitcase!) and then it seemed I never put it back right away so I always had a mess of suitcases sitting around.
