Upcycled Boho Basket

12 February
I've been dying to share this project with you!

Today is Thrifty Chicks challenge day and our item we are upcycling this month is baskets and woven items!

I found my basket at Goodwill for just .99 cents!

I liked the oblong shape of it but the handle had to go.

I also used this ball of string I had for this project.

I wanted to add some macrame to this basket and create a wall pocket. I started by tying a piece of the string across the center.

Then I tied lark's head macrame knots onto the string. I shared the different macrame knots in this post: DIY Macrame Kitchen Curtain.

I cut my pieces about 60 inches long and tied them all across the string.

Then I began tying square knots with doubled-up strings.

And I kept going until I reached the bottom edge of the basket.

Then I used a large needle to pull the strings through the side of the basket.

I knotted the strings tight to the basket on the back and then trimmed up the ends.

Now I wanted something cute to put in my new wall pocket. I pulled out some of my vintage fabric pieces.

I made a paper heart template...

... and cut out some hearts.

Then I stitched them together.

Then I turned them, stuffed them, and came up with these!

They are now in my new macrame basket wall pocket.
