DIY Witch's Boot - 7 Days of Thrift Shop Flips

22 August

Oh my goodness! We are getting so close to the end of 7 Days of Thrift Shop Flips... just one more day!

Today is Day 6 and I have another Halloween themed project!

Every thrift shop has shoes right? Check out that section for what you'll need for this project.

I will confess that these were my shoes, not something I purchased at the thrift store. I was just about to throw them out because the faux leather is cracking and flaking but then I decided to upcycle them instead! They reminded me of witch's boots so that's what I decided to make with one!

You can get creative with how you paint yours, but I'll share what I did if you want to make yours the same as mine 😊

If your shoes don't have the different sections like mine did, you can always just create your own by color blocking in the same manner as if you did have an actual dividing line. Paint the top portion black.

Paint the toe area orange.

Paint the tongue (if your shoes have one) with purple.

Add purple polka dots to the black area with the end of a pen.

Then use a black Sharpie marker to draw spider webs on the orange part of the boot. I just looked at a picture of spider webs and drew them freehand.

So, I'm really bad at getting into a project and then I forget I'm supposed to be taking pictures! 😖 DOH! Thankfully you can see everything for the next few steps in this picture!

Add green dots inside the purple. Use a small stencil brush, dip it in yellow, wipe most of it off on a paper towel and then scrub it in circles at the center of each spider web. (kind of like you put on blush 😂)

Add sequins along the dividing line between colors with glue.

Add some purple glitter along the sides and glitter the heel with black. I used Mod Podge to add the glitter but you can use white glue (you may need to add water to thin it out a little bit.)

If your shoe has laces like mine, replace them with Halloween themed ribbon. If your shoe doesn't have laces then you can glue some ribbons on to look like laces, paint them on, or just glue on a bow or two!

Add a glittery spider to the toe where the spider webs are. Add a bow and a glitter bat at the back. I found these at the Dollar Tree.

I painted the inside sole of mine green. You could also line it with Halloween fabric, that would be super cute too!

I think this would be a cute candy dish... wrapped candy of course... because it's a shoe... eww! 😂
