Upcycled Wooden Heart Valentine
23 January
Today I'm sharing a fun Valentine makeover project with my friends from the Do-It-Over-Designers!
I was envisioning this with a puffy heart inside. I used some batting, a thrifted sweater, a scrap of cardboard, and not pictured: stuffing, hot glue, and paint.
I decided the red was too harsh for my taste so I painted over that in off-white and sanded it in spots so the red peeked through for a distressed finish.
Then I ran a bead of hot glue around the edges and stuck the batting over the stuffing and down into the glue.
Then I wanted to dress the front up a little bit. I used some faux succulents and ferns that I had and I picked up the glittery heart at Hobby Lobby.
What do you think??

We share a fun project bi-monthly, there is no theme, we just take something old and give a fresh new life! It's always fun to see what everyone comes up with 😃
Upcycled Wooden Heart Valentine
I found this wooden heart at the thrift store and it was half off, so just $1.50!
Then I traced around the heart on the cardboard.
And glued it down on the back.
The batting over the stuffing provides a smooth look instead of lumpy from the stuffing.
I put the wooden heart over the puffy heart, glued, and clamped to dry.
Then I glued the second piece of cardboard I cut over the cut edges of the sweater on the back. I painted that too but didn't take a picture of that.
