Sharing a New Etsy Shop

02 April

Today I'm sharing something a little different, it's not my usual home decor, DIY, or craft project.

However, it is something that I'm very proud of 😊

It's a new Etsy shop... but not MY Etsy shop!

It's my daughter's, she just opened it up yesterday. She's got some talent, this girl 😘

My daughter's name is Sydney and she's taken a liking to the art of needle tufting!

I have tried almost every form of crafting there is, but I've never tried needle tufting. It's similar to latch-hook I think although it produces a much denser yarn surface.

The term “tufting” comes from English, meaning roughly “decorated with tufts,” and refers to a process of creating three-dimensional textile surfaces. The process originates from the old European craftsmanship of embroidering rugs. Tufting is defined as the act of a needle punching through a backing material in the form of a loop. Depending on loop heights, these loops can add texture and dimension, and, if cut, the “cut pile” can add a velvet-like appearance to the tufted area. (Source: blogmanningtoncommercial.com)

Her shop is dropdeadsydney and she's just listed some of her first designs!

These are mug rugs (or coasters). I love the heart eye!

And here is a fun little mini rug!

You can do small things, like the mug rugs with an embroidery hoop, but my dad built her this frame so she can do larger-scale things.

Who doesn't need a pink cowboy boot?!

Right now she uses a tufting needle similar to this.

But she is saving up to buy herself a tufting gun so that she can make even bigger things faster.

This is my favorite thing I think! I love the letters, you could make so many things with them... she has this one configured as a wall hanging, but I can see pillows that spell out a word or name, pennant banners, etc.

It would be so great if you could show her some love, here's how you can help:

  • heart her shop
  • heart her items in the shop (the more Etsy knows people love her stuff, the more they will share her shop too!)
  • Pin her shop on Pinterest
  • Pin some items from her shop on Pinterest
  • Refer people you know who may like it
  • Share her shop on your social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.)
  • and if you see something you love... buy it from her! 😉

I know she would be so grateful.

  2. Sydney's creations are so cute and she's having a great time making them! She's created the designs without the use of patterns, too, just drawing them out and transferring to the base fabric. She's got lots of ideas so favorite her shop to be sure to see what she comes up with next!!
