DIY No-Sew Garden Flag

28 September

Do you have one of those cute little garden flags by your front door?

I used to have them for all the holidays but I think they aren't as popular as they once were and I no longer have them.

The other day I was at the thrift store and stumbled upon one of the metal stakes that hold those little flags so I picked it up.

Since I no longer have those old flags, I needed to make my own.

This is such a simple project that it probably doesn't even warrant a blog post and video, but I did it anyway! 😁

Here is the little flag holder I picked up at the thrift store.

At first, I was thinking of creating my own little pumpkins out of felt and using them as appliques on a piece of fabric but then I was strolling the aisles at my local Home Goods the other day and they had the CUTEST little kitchen towels!

And I immediately knew they would be adorable as a little garden flag too!

You could certainly cut the towel and sew it into a flag but I chose to try iron-on fusible hem tape this time, #lazycrafter!

Here is the video.

All you do is fold the sides in so it is the size needed for your garden flag stake, add the fusible hem tape with an iron, fold the top over and add some more hem tape so that it creates a little rod pocket (like curtains) for the stake to slide through.

Isn't it the cutest?!

It can easily go all the way through Thanksgiving but wait until you see the Halloween towel!

I also recently upcycled an old wreath I had with some thrifted lotus seed pods, some yellow faux flowers I found at Target for $5, and a little white pumpkin I had.
