Repurposed Toolbox Fall Decor - Trash-to-Treasure
Even though my house is still a mess with all the DIY projects going on as we fix it up, I still have the urge to do some seasonal and holiday decorating.
I didn't even put up a Christmas tree last year because we closed on this house on December 17th and we didn't move in right away. This is the first time in my life that I have not put up a Christmas tree and I missed it!
But, I can at least decorate the areas of our house that aren't all torn up at the moment. The front porch is one of those areas so I made a cute little thing for it!

- Old toolbox (Etsy has some under $15 to choose from HERE if you don't have one to use)
- Spray Paint in the color of your choice (I used THIS orange but yellow or red would be pretty too)
- Cricut and black self-adhesive vinyl (you could also paint or stencil the words)
- Faux fall flowers (or you could use real flowers)
- Florist's foam
For some reason, between the two of us we have about six toolboxes. We've been going through the garage sorting and organizing and this one wound up in the garbage. Probably because it's all bent up and doesn't close very well.

I think it turned out so cute! I also cut out a face so I can turn it into a unique jack-o-lantern for Halloween.
I got a new buffalo check rug on sale at JoAnn's and then layered our "hope you brought pie" doormat on top.
Love the rescued toolbox! Fall colors are so fun & festive and your front step is looking very inviting. When you said there was a toolbox in the trash i knew it wouldn't be there for long! LOL!
ReplyDeleteThank you! It's so much easier to decorate a small porch like this instead of the massive one I had before!
DeleteThat looks so welcoming and cheerful!
ReplyDeleteThanks!!
DeleteLove what you did with the rescued tool box, Tania, and have fun with your new Cricut machine! It opens a world of crafting potential.
ReplyDeleteThanks Marie! I am excited for all the possibilities the Cricut brings... especially that I no longer have to hand paint each time I want words on a project!
DeleteThe porch is lovely with all the upcycled decor! For the door, maybe a navy blue; it would make the brass inlay pop. The house is really coming along!
