Today I want to share a new tool I've been playing around with.

It's the xTool M1, the world's first desktop laser- and blade-cutting machine! I made a really cute sign for my daughter with it.

Here's the project I made.

XTool M1 Desktop Laser and Blade Cutting Machine

Isn't it cute?! My daughter has found a new love for being a plant mommy so I think she'll really like this.

It comes in the box all set up... basically plug-and-play because I don't have the attention span to learn complicated new tools 😂

Watch the video below to see how the xTool works.

I have the xTool M1 - 10W Deluxe set up in my craft room. It is larger than a Cricut but still desktop size which seems amazing considering all that it can do!

It comes with metal triangular prisms that you lay in the bottom of the machine for laser cutting to raise the item that you are cutting off the surface.

If you are cutting paper or fabric, it comes with adhesive mats like a Cricut.

You create your designs in their software called xTool Creative Space.

Add the surface you are cutting (or scoring, engraving, etc.) on top of the triangular prisms...

The xTool M1 has a camera inside so when you close the lid, your design for the item you've chosen is shown on your computer screen. In this case, the plywood.

I think this is one of the coolest features because you can adjust, resize, and move the design around to best utilize the space available!

Once you have told the xTool what you want to do (cut, score, or engrave), what material you are using, etc. it will start processing!

It's nice that you can see through the lid and watch the magic happen!

Here is the sign base with the design scored into the surface. I stained it first.

Then I glued all the pieces in place. The scored design makes it easy to know exactly where each piece should go.

I chose to paint the letters after I glued them on since they are so small.

Here's the finished sign!

I purchased the cut files for this sign from Studio Moonset on Etsy.
