Today I have some updates on the little rental cottage that my daughter is moving into.
We've been working in the kitchen lately.
Kitchen Updates at the Cottage

I have a video sharing all about the wallpaper below. Be sure to check it out because this wallpaper has a special little surprise in store for you!
I chose to pay someone to install them in the interest of time and just due to the size of the area. It took them one day to complete the whole job. It would have taken me weeks!
This kitchen and dining room is very long and skinny so I had them lay the new floors horizontally to make it feel wider.
Here is one area of the old floor that had been patched. This linoleum had been down for years and while it didn't look terrible, it didn't look that good either (lots of dings and scratches).
It was time for a fresh start!
It looks so much better in here now!
The wallpaper accent wall was the last thing we've done in here so far but I'm so excited about it I want to share it before I talk about the other updates 😃
We chose Hand Drawn Daisy. Here's the thing about Love vs. Design wallpaper though... YOU CAN CUSTOMIZE IT in any color you want!
Check out the video to see how that works.
It is removable peel-and-stick wallpaper and there's no more measuring and cutting for length off of a huge roll of wallpaper, it comes in numbered sections and the pattern is already matched so you don't have a bunch of waste left over!
My mind is literally blown you guys 😲 I had no idea that's how it would be but it made it SO easy to install!
Here is what it looks like right out of the box. See what I mean? It's already cut and the pattern is already matched!
Stick around to the end to see how it looks.
Some other updates we have made so far are replacing the ceiling light. It wasn't working and we didn't like it anyway.
We installed new Berissa Honeycomb blinds. These were a breeze to install and so far seem to be very good quality!
And we added cabinet hardware to the cabinets. I chose these by Ravinte. We used 3" for the drawers and 6 1/4" for the cupboard doors.
I swear by this brand, I've used them in my boyfriend's kitchen and laundry room that I made over for him before we moved in together, in our kitchen, and we used them in the rental that my parents just sold.
And here's how the cottage kitchen is looking so far!
I'm not really diggin' the electrical panel box. I may paint it a complementary color, but I'm waiting because we may also be able to cover it with a curtain in that corner to make a little broom closet-type situation.
I wasn't really sure how this wallpaper would look since the design is so large and there is a lot going on with the window, door, AC, etc. but I really like it!
Here are the other updates to this house plus the initial house tour in case you missed them:
I love that wallpaper--and how smart of you to cover the door too. It looks great! Now, I'm off to watch your video. Looking forward to more updates on this cute little house.
I was really unsure about the wallpaper but it turned out to be a very good choice! It really brightens things up, especially with that dark door covered!
The flooring and wallpaper made a huge difference to this space! I love how you created a seamless look by applying the pretty wallpaper over the door.

ReplyDeleteThank you Vikki! That door was in such bad shape we had to do something! It was either paint or wallpaper so we decided to try wallpapering first :)
