Altered Valentine's Day Book - Part II

31 December
I've been working on an altered Valentine's Day book.

altered valentine's day book

I finished a few more pages to share.

On this page I sewed together some scraps of pretty fabrics for the background, the pocket is from a vintage apron (don't worry, I didn't destroy a perfectly good vintage apron, it was ripped and torn beyond repair already) and I made the ruffle along the bottom with some of the apron fabric and added a white button heart.

The measuring tape along the side is actually craft ribbon printed to look like a measuring tape.

I made a red felt heart to go in the apron pocket and embroidered XO on it.

The LOVE letters along the top of the page are from a license plate frame that my daughter got with her first car, it came with letters and you could personalize it!

Of course, when she got rid of the license plate frame I couldn't just throw these out! Oh nooo, the pack rat in me wouldn't allow that!

This little half-page is actually an envelope that came out of an old household filing binder.

I thought it would be a fun place for someone to put Valentine's that they receive.

Behind that is this pretty page!

I painted the page with white Gesso and then made a heart out of vintage, white buttons.

I wrote "love" all around the heart for a fun detail.

I used pink scrapbook paper that has little embossed lips on it for the background of this page along with a dictionary page and a photograph of a unknown soldier.

He just looked to me like he has a lovely young lady back at home waiting for him :o)

I added some wings (stapled on), a piece of an old bingo card, and a garter belt hook with ribbons tied to it!

I also wrote "my man" with little hearts on the picture.

On this page, I used a pretty floral fabric on the background, a vintage white doily on top of that, an old book page spritzed with dye mist for another layer, and then an angel sticker.

I added a small bouquet with vintage ribbon and flowers and some crinkled paper along the bottom...

To finish this page off, I added some hearts cut from the original papers that were in the book and more crinkled paper on the top.

You can see how this fun book is getting full with goodies!

I love looking at it from this angle, it just makes you want to open it and see what's inside!

You can see the part 1 and III here:
