DIY Squirrel Feeder - Weekend Yard Work Series

11 June
I've been working hard on my blog... cleaning it up, organizing it, and going back through old posts and editing some content. As part of the clean-up I thought it might be fun to re-post some oldies but goodies!

So today I'm re-sharing this cute little squirrel feeder. We have TONS of squirrels around here!

DIY Squirrel Feeder

I saw this one on Pinterest last year.

And it just so happens that I have a chair very similar to this one!

To make my version of this adorable squirrel feeder I first drilled a hole in the top of the chair to attach it to the fence.

Then I drilled a hole in the seat of the chair for the post to put the ear of corn on making sure to leave room for the squirrels to have a seat!

Then I rummaged around in my shop for some things to use... I found a large screw for the corn post and a nut to hold the screw into the seat.

I also found some old metal, heavy duty staples that I saved from another project .

So, I screwed the chair to the fence using the top hole in the chair.

And used the staples to secure the bottom of the chair.

Then I added an ear of corn. I actually had to screw it on because it wouldn't just push on, it was being difficult!

There you have it! I hope they use it :o)

  1. I've never seen a squirrel feeder. It is adorable and the multitude of squirrels that live around here would love it. Now to find an itty bitty chair.

    1. I bet you could find a small chair on Etsy or eBay. Metal ones will last the longest.

Glad you liked this project Sharon! :o)

  4. I have never seen squirrels where we live. We have lots of birds and the occasional nuisance skunk. This project is adorable and the birds would probably like it too.

  5. OK now I'm gonna want to see a picture with the squirrel. This is just too adorable. You are such a gracious hostess. And lucky you that you had a similar chair to use. Pinning and sharing. Tania thanks for all the sweet inspiration.
