Using Nature to Decorate For Fall
27 September
Let's talk about decorating for the holidays for a minute.
How do you decorate, do you go all out and decorate the whole house for all the holidays? Do you only do one room or one or two areas of a room, like a hutch or table? Or maybe you don't decorate at all.
I do enjoy decorating my home for most holidays and seasons. sometimes I go all out and sometimes I only do a small area.
But as I'm getting older, easy is better for me. I don't want to have to get out a bunch of bins and tubs and make a big mess, only to have to clean it up and then do it all over when it's time to put the decorations away.
When it comes to decorating for seasons, I'm finding that you can get some really beautiful decor just by going outside for a walk.
Today I am sharing an easy way to get some pretty seasonal vibes going in your home by decorating with Mother Nature!
Using Nature to Decorate For Fall
I thought it would be fun to share some decor from nature on my coffee table and some ideas from around the internet.
I thought they were pretty so I picked them up and brought them in to use for decoration. I just put them in a big old canning jar and filled the bottom with tiny pinecones.
The nice thing about a branch of dried leaves is that you don't need a vase with water!
I also found a vintage white serving platter, a wicker placemat, some wooden beads from my craft supplies, and a yummy Vanilla Toddy scented candle.
Here are some more beautiful ideas I found.
This idea is from Lisa at Wisconsin Magpie. Check out her post to learn how to make a sweet little acorn garland like hers!

Maybe you live somewhere where cattails grow. I got these near my parents' house.

Pinecones are a great freebie from Mother Nature. You can learn how to bleach them for a unique look from Michele from Vintage Home Designs.

I love these sweetgum ball wreaths but I don't think the sweetgum trees are very common where I live, at least I never see them.
Michael from Inspired by Charm shows how to make them.

Leaves though... those are everywhere!

I just taped some with washi tape to the plates hanging on my wall.
Do you do any decorating with nature? If not, why not step outside and see what Mother Nature has to offer for decorating your home? It's free!
