This is a roundup of some of the cutest ideas for Easter baskets made with recyclables, they are great for giving to children because let's face it, kids are all about the candy and toys IN the basket rather than the basket itself! 😆

But they can also be dressed up for adults with things like paint, pretty paper, etc., for a more sophisticated look.

Idea #1 - Recycled Plastic Food Containers

A recycled plastic milk jug makes the cutest bunny Easter basket.

This one is from Dudley's Candies but unfortunately, their website is no longer accessible. It's pretty easy to see how it's made though.

  1. Cut a hole in the side of the milk jug opposite the handle.
  2. Use white and pink felt to make some ears, glue them to the sides of the top, and add rick-rack trim.
  3. Use cardboard or craft foam for feet.
  4. Add large white pom-poms and a pink pom-pom for a nose, pipe cleaners for whiskers, and felt for teeth.
  5. Add large googly eyes and a large pom-pom on the back for a tail.

Here are a couple of versions of baskets made from recycled soda bottles.

I was unable to find a valid source for this one but again, it looks pretty simple.

  1. Cut the bottom off of a soda bottle.
  2. Cover the cut edge with washi tape or ribbon and add rick-rack trim.
  3. Glue a pipe cleaner on the inside edge for a handle (I would also cover it with tape for added stability)
  4. Add stickers for embellishments.

And this one is just so sweet and dainty. It's made from a soda bottle! It's from Mary Fetzer on SheKnows.com.

Here is another version from Adrienne at Crafty Little Gnome.
