Boho Bathroom Makeover

20 June
I've been talking about redoing my mail hall bath for months now. Well, I finally got it done and it wasn't that hard at all, sometimes I don't know what I'm waiting for! 😏

The last time I did a makeover of this little room it was much more colorful and vibrant. I really liked that but it was short-lived... my attention span is that of a toddler!

You can see that makeover here: Main Bathroom Redo - Final Reveal. That was over 4 years ago! Wow, how time flies! That makeover was much more involved than this one because it involved new flooring, lighting, wainscotting, etc. This time around was much less involved... just paint and new decor!

I was inspired by the bathroom in this Global Inspired Home Tour {Upstairs} from Rock my Style.

I mean, look at that!! I love the grey tile on the walls and all the natural wood and nature-inspired accents!

Now... to recreate that look in my tiny, dark bathroom.

The first thing was to paint the walls white and the wainscotting grey to get the same feel as this inspiration photo.

The inspiration bathroom has bold tiles on the floor. I didn't have that but decided I could get a bold accent up on the wall instead!

When I redid this bathroom 4 years ago I repurposed an old medicine cabinet to make this wall shelf. Here is that finished repurpose project.

I decided to use that to make my bold accent piece so I took it down, removed the fabric backing, and painted the back grey to match the sides and shelves.

Then I used a Moroccan stencil to stencil the whole back of this shelf.

I put two of the shelves back in and added some hooks for towels along the bottom.

Then I added a wood mirror that was my grandmother's. This had two purposes... to start bringing in the natural wood accents from the inspiration photo and to hopefully bounce around some more light since there are no windows in this bathroom. The mirror reflects the light from the window in the bedroom across the hall.

I also hung an antique wooden sewing machine drawer front above the mirror.

Now, I needed more natural wood and some nature-inspired accents and greens from the plants in the inspiration photo.

Enter an old TV tray that didn't work out for another project! It was a perfect size and emulated the look of the wood trunk that was in the inspiration photo!

I used a wooden leaf bowl to hold shells, soaps, and some bath salts that were in the hotel on a recent trip. I found the driftwood on the beach and the candle, faux plant, Tahiti spray, and reed diffuser at TJMaxx.

I love my vintage shaving brush collection and wanted to display it in the bathroom but they just didn't look right anywhere... until I saw some displayed in an old box on Pinterest... this wooden jewelry box was something my ex-husband made for me long ago and it's perfect to bring in another wood accent! There's another jewelry box he made for my daughter on the little table.

The rocks with holes were found on the beach in Seaside, it amazes me how the ocean water drilled perfectly shaped holes right through them!

I found this leaf print at Goodwill! It's originally from Target but was just $9.99 at Goodwill! It helps to bring in some of the green accents from all the plants in the inspiration photo.

And remember the little Repurposed Bronze Baby Shoe Shelf I made?

Over in the sink area is my favorite little print for Soft Soap 😊

And a little vintage corner shelf.

This mirror belonged to one of my grandmas too.

I didn't have to do anything to the vanity except replace the blue contact paper with faux wood grain paper.

The vintage plant stand was another Goodwill find.
