Vintage Thanksgiving Vignette

09 October
Some blogging friends and I are getting together today for a little vintage Thanksgiving blog hop! We will each be sharing a vintage themed Thanksgiving project!

I will share mine with you here first and then you'll be able to "hop" over to the other ladies' blogs to see their lovely projects! Sounds like fun right? 😀

Vintage Thanksgiving Vignette with the Creative Vintage Darlings

Vintage Thanksgiving Vignette

My project started out with this antique clock that I brought home from my mom's house.

It belonged to my grandma and while I don't think it works anymore, it's so beautiful to me! I mean look at the beautiful wood and the pattern on the glass door! 😍

The detail in the clock face is cool!

And this is why I don't think it works anymore! But even the parts are cool looking right?!

Now, on to my Thanksgiving vignette!

I wanted to use my vintage Thanksgiving Gurley candles in my vignette. This adorable pilgrim couple...

I have a growing collection of these adorable little Gurley candles (although not too many for Thanksgiving). You can learn more about them in my guide: Gurley and Tavern Candles Collectibles Guide.

I added some fairy lights to the inside of the clock by stringing them through a hole that was already in the back of the clock. The battery pack for the lights nestles nicely under the clock.

I used some black command hooks to hold some of the lights in place and tucked some up under the bell in the clock.

Then I added my candles (also a little Indian candle), a mini bail of hay and pumpkin wreath, a tiny faux pumpkin, some tiny pinecones, and faux leaves. And I tucked a vintage fall postcard I had behind the lights to add a little background of sorts.

I used some orange baker's twine, glue, and vintage book pages to make a mini pennant banner.

I stamped "Give" on the banner and hung it across the top.

And then used scrabble tiles to spell out "Thanks"!

I have it sitting in the entry in my living room.
