Supplies Needed
- 2 Recycled paper egg cartons (this will make 10 carrots)
- Green crepe paper streamer
- Orange craft paint
- Coordinating baker's twine (or jute or cotton twine)
- Scissors
- Hot glue gun
I also created a video showing how to make these, check it out below.
You just need the bottom half of the egg carton, we are using the tall pointy pieces from the carton.
Step 1 - Pull apart the skinny cone parts from the egg carton
I found it easiest to just tear out the pointy cone pieces from the center of the egg carton.
Step 2 - Paint the cones
Paint these little cones orange.
Step 3 - Make the carrot tops
Cut a piece of the green crepe paper streamer to about 10 inches long and fold it in half.
Cut some more strips of crepe paper about the same length as before. Wad them up and shove them down into the bottom half of the cones with a bit of hot glue to secure them.
This is to fill up the space in the cone so your carrot tops will stick up enough.
Put a dab of hot glue into each cone, on top of the wadded-up crepe paper, and then add your carrot top.
Step 5 - Tie them into a garland
Use the baker's twine (or jute or cotton twine) to tie the carrots into a garland. Tie and knot around each carrot top and tie a loop into each end so you can hang your garland up.
Step 6 - Hang!
Hang this up wherever you need a little Easter cheer! 😘
He had broken off of whatever he used to hold and he was silver. I painted him white.
He's now a cute candy dish!
I have him displayed on the dining table.
I made the planter here: Vintage Dish Succulent Planter
These recycled egg carton carrots make cute bowl filler too!
