I have a super cute and super easy recycle bin craft for Easter to share with you today using recycled egg cartons!

I'm using mine on my Easter mantel.

Supplies Needed

I also created a video showing how to make these, check it out below.

This is not my original idea, I first saw it at Hallo: Eltern, and I've seen other variations around Pinterest. I wanted to try making my own.

You just need the bottom half of the egg carton, we are using the tall pointy pieces from the carton.

Step 1 - Pull apart the skinny cone parts from the egg carton

I found it easiest to just tear out the pointy cone pieces from the center of the egg carton.

Once you have removed those pieces, trim them to remove the jagged edges.

Step 2 - Paint the cones

Paint these little cones orange.

Step 3 - Make the carrot tops

Cut a piece of the green crepe paper streamer to about 10 inches long and fold it in half.

Cut slits all along the edge about 1/4" apart and about halfway to 3/4 of the way up.

Open it back up and it should look like grass. Make one of these for each cone.

Roll each one up and pinch the bottoms.

Step 4 - Fill the cones and add the tops

Cut some more strips of crepe paper about the same length as before. Wad them up and shove them down into the bottom half of the cones with a bit of hot glue to secure them.

This is to fill up the space in the cone so your carrot tops will stick up enough.

Put a dab of hot glue into each cone, on top of the wadded-up crepe paper, and then add your carrot top.

Step 5 - Tie them into a garland

Use the baker's twine (or jute or cotton twine) to tie the carrots into a garland. Tie and knot around each carrot top and tie a loop into each end so you can hang your garland up.

Step 6 - Hang!

Hang this up wherever you need a little Easter cheer! 😘

I also made a cute little bunny basket with a metal bunny I found at the thrift store. It was so simple it doesn't even warrant an entire blog post but I wanted to show him to you anyway. 😊

He had broken off of whatever he used to hold and he was silver. I painted him white.

I used E6000 glue to attach him to a small thrifted basket.

He's now a cute candy dish!

I have him displayed on the dining table.
