I picked up this $3.49 wooden dish drying rack at the thrift store and started turning it upside down and sideways to see if I could "see" anything else in it.

This is how I come up with a lot of my ideas. If you only look at things as they are intended to be used, sometimes that's all you'll see but if you turn them over and look at them from different angles, you might see something else!

I share some of my other tips and secrets in my eBook. You can check it out and purchase here: The Ultimate How-To Guide For Thrift Shop Flips ðŸ˜‰

So, as I was turning this all around and holding it at different angles (I'm sure people thought I'd lost it), part of it folded up and I immediately saw a cute shelf!

All I needed to do to turn this into a shelf was cut off the legs leaving just enough of each leg so that it would still stay open when hung up.

You see?!

I really like how the top shelf is deeper than the bottom shelf, it gives it character 😊

This drying rack had been used so it had some water spots and discoloration that I wanted to disguise so I decided to stain it.

Then I added two sawtooth hangers to the back and used Mod Podge clear sealer for a protective coat.

I love the rich color now but it would have been cute left natural if it didn't have the staining issue.
